Conclusion
A great price for a great product. I have been using them for 3 months, and my daughter has used them for years. Between glass stoage containers and these bags we have stopped purchase of plastic storage bags all together.
Hey! Linda.
I love sustainability and love my Earth.
Eco-friendly products have always been my choice.
We are so habituated to disposable plastic bags, containers, storage bags, snacks, and others that it becomes harder to think of other options.
I am a chemist and look at every contaminant and possible carcinogen or heavy metal association in a product if I assess for use.
This is my verdict.
Should I choose to buy this item?
Yes, and I will wash it thoroughly, air dry it, and use it for food storage in the refrigerator and freezer.
Here is my research.
The word “Polyethylene Vinyl Acetate (PEVA)” caught my attention. I did a search using Bard-AI.
This is what I came up with for my prompts:
Polyethylene vinyl acetate (PEVA) is a type of plastic generally considered safe for most people, but there are some potential concerns about its carcinogenicity.
One study found that when heated, PEVA can release volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOCs are a group of chemicals that can harm human health; some are known to be carcinogenic. However, the levels of VOCs released from PEVA are generally deficient, and it is not clear whether they are high enough to pose a significant health risk.
Another study found that PEVA can contain trace amounts of lead and cadmium, both known carcinogens. However, the levels of these metals in PEVA are also shallow, and it is unclear whether they are high enough to pose a significant health risk.
Overall, the evidence that PEVA is carcinogenic is limited. More research is needed to determine whether the VOCs and metals that can be released from PEVA are harmful to human health.
To be safe than sorry,
If you are concerned about the potential carcinogenicity of PEVA, you can take steps to reduce your exposure, such as:
Avoiding heating PEVA products.
Washing PEVA products thoroughly before use.
Choosing PEVA products from reputable manufacturers.
Replacing PEVA products regularly.
I thought having this knowledge always will help me decide.
Thanks for your comments and researching and sharing Anusuya,
I also would not use them for heated things.
I don’t use a dishwasher to clean. Just wash then turn inside out and put on drainer to dry. They stand by themselves. Then when dry they are easy to just wipe off.
I still don’t trust silicone for hot food. But for storing food after its cool they are great. Many nonfood uses too that I may have used a disposable for previously.
Thanks again, may I use your research in a future article?
Linda
Reducing plastic usage is definitely a step in the right direction for a more sustainable lifestyle, and these reusable silicone dishwasher-safe bags sound like a fantastic solution!
I’m particularly intrigued by the dishwasher-safe feature, making cleanup hassle-free. I’m curious, though, have you noticed any limitations or specific situations where these bags might not work? It’s always helpful to hear from someone with real experience using a product like this.
Thanks, Miadinh for the comment
I use these bags for many things. I don’t put hot things in though.

What a nifty idea. I normally use Tupperware to store food in the fridge or freezer, but these bags will take up so much less space. If I understand correctly you need to wash them in your dishwasher at a lower temperature which might cause a bit of a problem if washing with other highly soiled goods as they may not clean so well so I think in this case to prolong the life of these bags, it is probably better to wash them by hand?
Thanks for your comment Michel.
I wash mine by hand, turn inside out and put on dish drainer. they stand up that way and when dry can towel off the other siide.easy breezy
Thanks again
